Head Fall Coach of the Month Is Hardy Kalisher, Boys Soccer, August 2017 
Hardy led his team to an outstanding 4-0 August!  His ranking was #1, all through the month and he beat #2 Broomfield and #4 Fairview.  Proving Boulder soccer is a force again in the state!

Omar Castruita Honored as Player of the Year!
Congratulations to Omar Castruita who was named Front Range League Player of the Year! Omar finished the season with 20 goals and 19 assists! Omar has also been named COLORADO PLAYER OF THE YEAR, 5A PLAYER OF THE YEAR, and will be honored in Philadelphia in January as a HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICAN.

Omar Castruita Is Boulder High School Athlete of the Month, August 2017
As junior he has a goal or assist in each of Boys Soccer's four wins in August including the game winning goals vs. Fairview, Heritage, Mountain Vista and the game winning assist versus Broomfield. 4 games he has 5 goals, 2 assists. The game winning goal vs Fairview was a peak performance under a ton of pressure. He's having a fantastic start to the season.

Under Coach Hardy Kalisher's leadership and direction, the Panthers have reached the Colorado State Playoffs in each of his 11 previous seasons as varsity head coach, achieved its first State Championship (2012), 2nd State Championship (2016), State Runner Up (2014), 5 Semi-Finals (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016) League Championship (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016), and the Quarter-finals (2009, 2015), finished as League Runner Up (2007, 2011, 2013), 11 consecutive years of Colorado 5A Top 10 rankings, 2 National Rankings (2015 and 2016), including #1 in the Nation (November, 2016), 3 Top 10 NSCAA Western USA Ranking (2014, 2015, 2016), 7 time Top 15 Ranking in the NSCAA Western USA Rankings (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016).
Boulder High finished the 2016 season the #1 ranked public school in the nation in all 3 major national ranking polls and #2 overall (NSCAA/USA Today, TopDrawer, MaxPreps). In 2012 and 2016, Hardy received the Colorado Coach of the Year Awards from the Colorado High School Coaches Association, Denver Post, and NSCAA. In 2012 and 2016, Coach Hardy was NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year and Finalist for NSCAA National Coach of the Year. In 2012, the Positive Coaching Alliance awarded Hardy with its prestigious National Double-Coach of the Year Award, the first time the Award was given to a Colorado coach in any sport. Coach Hardy has been named League Coach of the Year 4 times (2007, 2012, 2014, 2016) and 3 times Coach of the Year by the Daily Camera. Colorado Youth Soccer Association Soccer named Coach Hardy Coach of the Year in 2002.

Chris Honkamp, Head Coach Junior Varsity Boys Soccer

Coach Chris Honkamp will be starting his 11th season in the program and is responsible for preparing Junior Varsity student-athletes for success at the Varsity level. Chris is involved in all aspects of coaching in the Boulder High soccer program, including summer, preseason, and winter indoor soccer. In 2016, Coach Chris was nominated for the NSCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year. As a tremendous asset to the program and a highly regarded youth coach and role model, Chris remains dedicated and loyal to Boulder High School soccer despite regular offers to be head coach at various high schools and with the top youth clubs in Colorado. Chris’s passion is Boulder High School Boys Soccer, and we are fortunate to have such a qualified coach in the program. Chris is a former Director of Coaching for a local soccer club. Chris played his prep soccer at one of the consistently top nationally ranked high school programs in the county, Marquette High School, Wisconsin.

Adam Hinkelman, Assistant Coach Boys Soccer

Adam Hinkelman joined the BHS coaching staff after playing his college soccer at Regis University in Denver. Adam was the first Panther ever named to the All-Colorado Team, in addition to being All-State, All-League and Co-Captain. Coach Adam also played for Coach Hardy as a high school student-athlete and is considered to be one of the finest defenders in Boulder High’s history. In his senior season, Adam was named Boulder High’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year for all sports. Adam is an accomplished ultra-runner and married to Katy Hinkelman (Van Lieshout) who is also considered to be one of the top girls soccer players to ever play for Boulder High. Katy is the sister of former BHS Boys Soccer captain and 2012 State Champion, Kevin Van Lieshout. The Hinkelman and Vann Lieshouts are passionate BHS soccer families.

Landon Roos _ Boys soccer_ Assistant Coach

Landon Roos, Assistant Coach Boys Soccer

Landon Roos joined the BHS coaching staff in 2016, but he is hardly new to the coaching philosophies of the program or the high standards required to maintain a top high school soccer program. Landon played several youth seasons for Coach Hardy when he was also the starting center midfielder for the Colorado Olympic Development Program team. In high school, Landon played for Jim Davidson at Broomfield High School, where he was a co-captain, varsity standout and a 4A State Champion. Landon went on to be Captain of the University of Colorado men’s team and plays for Harpo’s FC, one of the top men's teams in the USA.

Bruce Pelz, Goalkeeper Coach Boys Soccer

Bruce Pelz is the goalkeeper coach for the BHS program. Bruce works with the keepers on all three levels, with a special focus on preparing keepers for the varsity level. He grew up playing youth soccer in Boulder and in Denmark. A former player under Coach Hardy, Bruce was a varsity starting goalkeeper as a freshman at Boulder High. Bruce graduated from the University of Colorado, where he played on the men's soccer team. Bruce is very active running a non-profit, Maji Safi Group, that helps supply clean water and educate the importance of hygiene for Tanzanian communities in Africa. Bruce is a fine role model and favorite amongst the student-athletes at BHS.
